Count Hours worked inputted in a single cell

Hello all,

I've been reading through and downloading some cool things, Excel is awesome I'm glad to be back on the forums.

I make my weekly schedule from a template that cannot be changed. In one cell, I input times in format "9 AM - 11:30 AM", or "9:30 AM - 12 PM" multiple times for one day in a single column. Would it be possible to derive a formula which counts # of hours, without doing a VLOOKUP and entering every combination for a day (eeshk)?

I've read: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...unt-hours.html which was very helpful, but for some reason I couldn't get the formula to add values in a range, only in a given cell. Here is the code that worked awesome for the example, but not for my case (needing to calculate and count hours in a range of cells). Changing

The easy way would be to put the in and out times in separate cells.

That would be easy But the way it's set up must be in same cell
