Need help with Formula

Hi,

I am trying to find a formula that will do what I have demonstrated on the attached spreadsheet. Basically I am saying that 1Y is equal to 48 parts, and I would like to be able to put in one cell 3Y12. In another cell I would enter .75 and then a formula would figure out that 3y*48=144+12=156*.75=117/48=2.44 then 2*48=96 so 117-96=21 and therefore the answer would be 2Y21. I hope this makes sense and is possible.

I have attached a modified version of your workbook. It seemed that if it was less than 1Y (less than 48) you wanted just the remainder. If it was 1Y or higher (48 or greater) then you wanted the multiplierYremainder (like 2Y21).

The formula also has error checking for the following:
-If the Input (cell containing the Y, such as 3Y48) or the modifier cell (containing things like 0.75) is empty, the formula result is also a blank cell.
-If the input cell does not contain a Y, the formula result is "Missing Y"
-Otherwise the formula returns the desired result.
