    Arrow Sum different # cells

Alright, I'm doing a COUNTIF statement, but I'll need to count different sizes of lists, so I won't be able to have an exact range. Example: COUNTIF(C4:C11,"APPLE") Because, the next one will be this: COUNTIF(C13:C16,"APPLE") so I wouldn't just be able to copy paste it.
In the real world application, there will be hundreds of these lists everyday that I'll have to count a certain text out of a list.
Attached is the FRUIT COUNTIF to play with and find a solution

How do these lists come to be in Excel? Do you import them or are they imported through some type of pull from another system?

Mabe this will get the ball rolling

Using two helper columns (A:B), these can be hidden.

    In A5
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Drag/Fill Down until the last row of your tables plus two more rows.

    In B4
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Drag/Fill Down as above.

    Then in D4
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Drag/Fill Down

Can you get what you need from that?

These reports will be generated and imported to this workbook once a week or so. I figured I'd just copy and paste the formula I find into every space below the lists. (there are actually 2 spaces between each list in the real reports, in case that would make a difference in the formula)

    Hello,

Enter A1, your fruit which you want to count, APPLE

    In D4 enter this formula

    =COUNTIF(C4:INDEX(C4:$C$200,MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(C4:C$200="",),0)),$A$1)

Copy to the first cell in the next list, say D13, D18...
