    Named Range Error

    Hi All,

I have a weird issue with a new project using named range. There are 3 named ranges,
    Previous_SalesDOC
    Previous_SalesITEM
    Previous_Status

The first two work just fine. They go all the way to the end of the page just like they are suppose to...but the Previous_Status stops in the middle. Formula is exactly the same for all three, data sets are same, nothing crazy about the cell formatting....any ideas.

I attached the file I am working with. Just removed the confidential data.

Tab "New" column Q is where I do my lookups...it works great.

Tab "Previous" is where I do the named ranges....and is the problem.

    Thoughts?

    Many thanks!
    Matt

    Re: Named Range Error

    Hi Matt,

I don't see any named ranges in your sample workbook. In looking what you have, do you have merged cells in the named range area? I need to know what you mean by "stops in the middle" as that doesn't mean anything to me. Are you doing a vlookup in the named range and it doesn't find stuff towards the bottom of the range?

OK - I get it now. You have a Dynamic Named Range that is as long as the COUNT of data in column Q. Because you have blanks in the data in column Q the count is less than the bottom row.

    Look at http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/DynamicRanges.htm
and use the Dynamic Name that goes down to the last text entry for the Dynamic Named Range for that range and it should work.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

I totally forgot about the COUNT vs. MATCH!! Many thanks MarvinP! It worked perfect.
