How can you change the date sequence in formula bar?

    Using Excel 2007.

The dates I'm entering in the cells don't match what shows in the formula bar. I want that it shows in the formula bar for example 7/10/2010. This means 7th of October 2010. Unfortunately if I type it this way it is interpreted by excel as 10th of July, 2010. I tried to modify it using the Text to Columns trick and slecting DMY but this did not work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? In sum, I would like that what is stated in the formula bar and cell matches up, and I want to use European format with is Day/Month/Year.

    Thanks for the help!

Have a look at your regional settings in Control panel - they may be incorrectly set for the UK.
