Populating a list based on answer to another list

Is there any way to do this? For example - drop-down list one has values of 1, 2 and 3. I want to populate a second list with different information depending on whether the user chooses 1, 2 or 3 as their answer, i.e. if they choose '1', I populate the second drop-down with ABC. If they choose '2', I populate the second drop-down with DEF, etc.

Are the drop downs on a form or the sheet itself?
