conditional formatting for currency symbols and cell color

Hi, I am using excel 2003. I need to conditional formatting for the following:

Based on the column A, if it is USD, the next column show $ and the cell in blue
If it is JPY, the next column show Yuan sign and the cell in green
If it is Euro, the next column show Euro Sign and the cell in yellow.

    How to make that happen?

    Thanks a lot!

Does that next column have a value in it already.. and you just want the right "symbol" in front?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Assuming you are doing this in 2007, it is possible.

First you should move your data in areas as per attached.

Then select the pivot table range and go to Conditional Formatting.. and see how the formatting is applied in the Number and Fill tabs.

Re: conditional formatting for currency symbols and cell color

I am trying to create a simple stacked bar chart but there must be a problem with the way my spreadsheet is set up, because it results in individual bars rather than 1 stacked bar.

    reason count

    picking error 4
    short shipped 3
    over shipped 2
    packaging 2
    wrong customer 1
    wrong carrier 1

(I would sell my soul to have the chart wizard back...)

    Thanks in advance,

    Leah

I think you accidentally added your post to an existing, unrelated thread.

I can only use Excel 2003. Is there any way to do it?

I have also been trying achieve this in excel 2003 and seemingly there isn't a way to get this done without a macro. I attempted a conditional formatting with a formula if(lookupcell="Euros",text(currentcell,"$#0.00"),text(currentcell,"€#0.00")) with no success :-(
