    Question Random Numbers

I just noticed something peculiar. I'm using the EXCEL function RAND().

I entered that function into a cell, say A1, and generated a random number.

When I typed an entry in any other cell the random number changed!

I want to generate a random number, but once generated I don't want it to change in conjunction with entries in other cells.

Is there a way to establish a FIXED random number?

    Thanks

    Re: Random Numbers

You need to copy>paste special > values over the random number to remove the formula (or you could have a macro do the same thing).
