    Question Would like to use checkmarks as units - Custom formatting?

    Hi!

    I am trying to do the following in Excel 2007: use checkmarks as units, so that I can enter a number in a cell, see the checkmark appear automatically after it, but still be able to use that cell for calculations. I am having a hard time achieving this because the checkmark symbol uses the Wingdings font, and there doesn't seem to be a custom formating tag that allows to specify which font to use.

    Any ideas?

    You could have the check mark in the adjacent column, for example formatted with Marlett font

    =if(isnumber(a1),"a","")

    Or use the "√";;"-"; sign, as suggested above in a custom format

    0"√";-0"√";-;
