    =today() speed issues

    Hi,

    I have a very large spread sheet, and many cells refer to 1 cell, which is =today(). My problem is that on each recalculation (in auto calc) all cells that look to the cell that has =today() recalculate, and there is no need as the date hasnt changed. Is there another excel function to use, or another way around retyping in the date everyday.

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

    You can:
    1. Continue using =TODAY()
    2. Type the date into the cell manually each day (can also use CTRL + ; to enter the date statically)
    3. Turn calculation to manual (remember to recalc as needed; risky if you forget and make decisions based on uncalculated data)
    4. Have a macro run upon opening the workbook to insert today's date (requires macros enabled)
