    Moving Data between spreadsheets

    Hi everybody,

I have attached 2 dummy spreadsheets to give you an idea of how i need stuff moved...
Spreadsheet A Contains thet data that I need moved into spreadsheet B...

In spreadsheet A are Dates, names, offices, sales, and commiussions...

In spreadsheet B is a worksheet for one date, a second worksheet for the second date and a 3rd worksheet for the 3rd date. I also have the names of all 3 people in spreadsheet B worksheet 1, 2 and 3.

basically what i need is this..I need a function that I can place in the Office, Sales and Commisions cell and have it copy over that employees office, sales and commisions for the date specifies in the worksheet.

spreadsheets are attached, I have researched this for a couple weeks, on my own and need some help

    thanks

    Re: Moving Data between spreadsheets

Hi Demtro and welcome to the forum,

You are asking for a two sheet solution when you only really need one.
    Using Sheet A ONLY.
    1. Do an Auto Filter on your data http://www.contextures.com/xlautofilter01.html
    2. Select a date to filter on and copy the rows that show.
    3. Select Sheet 2 and Paste the copied rows to row 3 of Sheet 2
    4. Filter by another date and copy them to the next blank sheet.

Delete sheet 1 and rename the other sheets.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    Re: Moving Data between spreadsheets

    MarvinP,

I appreciate the suggestion however, I need this to be as automated as possible...Spreadsheet A will actually be an export from a website, and Spreadsheet B actually contains a lot of other data that is gotten from other locations...so doing the filter really is not an option...

I really need a function that will find the data and move it based on the 2 criteria...

Thanks though MarvinP I like the idea, just not going to work this situation.

    Re: Moving Data between spreadsheets

    Hi Demtro,

Normally breaking data into separate worksheets or workbooks is backwards from the ideas in Excel. Excel works best if all the data is in a large table (most of the time). Then in a single table on a singel worksheet in a single workbook, you can use all the powerful tools Excel has to offer. I'd reconsider you direction and look at the link again.
