    Question Carolyn J

I have a spreadsheet containing a column of sequenced project numbers. The format is YY-xxxx (xxxx is a sequenced number). 80% of the column is formatted correctly showing 09-1234, 09-1235, 10-0001, etc. But the other 20% show as dates. Instead of 09-1234, it thinks it is September 1, 1234. I can use Month, Year and Concatenate functions to convert this back to the YY-xxxx format but I think there must be a better way.

Any ideas on how to convert an erroneous date back to a formatted text field. I need to change the data, not just the format, so that I can sort the field with the other sequenced numbers.

    Help!!
