date input format

Hi,

I'm using Excel 2007 and have been pretty comfortable with the way I input date. Till recently, if I wanted 13th July 2011 to appear like 13/07/2011, I used to type 13/7 that is after I set the formatting as English (US). But all of a sudden in the last 2 days, it is so happening that if I type 13/7 it does not get converted to the required type. I have checked the format cells options, which is still the same (English US) but am unable to resolve the issue.

Please help.
