    Excel Gradebook Template Question

I've been using the Excel Gradebook Template with Percentages from the Microsoft website for years. I've now been convinced to include a "drop grade" - i.e. they write 5 papers but can drop their lowest grade. Is there a way to manipulate the template to reflect a "drop grade?" Keep in mind any of the 5 papers could be "dropped" - I think that's where it might get complicated.

Not sure how much of a response you're going to get on this one.

If I'm reading this correctly, you need someone to go to the Microsoft website, find and download a template, find out how to use it, input some test data and check that it works and then work out how to change it to meet your needs. Is that about right?

Do you see where that might be a problem? ;-)

Of course, there might be someone who uses it all the time and may already have amended it ...

Without doing any of the above, I'd guess you could do a SUMIF where the criteria was "greater than the minimum value". However, that might go wrong if there are two equal low values.

The other option is to have a helper column and use that to flag the grade to be "dropped". You could use that as the basis of a SUMIF.
