    Create automated iterative function

    Hi all,

I am trying to automate the iterative process required to solve the kinematic wave equation, presumably through a circular reference or macro.

Basically, in the kinematic wave eqn (used for surface flow calculations). there are two parameters that depend on one another (time of concentration, and rainfall intensity). To solve this, one needs to assume one a time of concentration value, calculate rainfall intensity, then look up a graph of historic 'rainfall intensity VS time of concentration' and measure the graphs rainfall intensity from your assumed time of concentration. You would then compare your calculated rainfall intensity value with the value you see on the graph. The aim is to reiterate through time of concentration values until these two rainfall values become (roughly) the same.

I can put in the data for the graph into excel by way of 10 or so coordinates, so one would also need to tell excel to interpolate whereever necessary.

    Any help, anyone??

    Thanks!

    Re: Create automated iterative function

Hello I as well am having issues with a cell calculation that causes a circular reference. Example of what id like to do.

A1 id like to type a number into for ex. 2.3 when i enter that number into A1 id like A1 to change to another predetermined value from a chart like 3.5 when i try the formula that should work i get a circular reference. I have tried different combinations of iterative calculations. Any ideas guys. Or if anyone knows how to get this equation to work it will give me the same result i need. D6=(D6-0.4)*0.291 thanks
