Excel formula to detect cell format?

I'm working to create an automated way to QA some pharmacy reports and one of the QA steps is to check that a data element is formatted as currency. Is there a way to create a formula to detect that so I can add "Pass" or "Fail" automatically without you manually looking at the cell?
