I have a simple table as follows---
Player Balls Strikes
James 5 2
Becky 4 3
John 6 2
How can I get it so that I can group the Balls and Strikes column to "Pitches"
Player Pitches
James 7
Becky 7
John 8
There doesn't seem to be a way to 'group' values. Thanks for any help
Use formula option of pivot i.e. Pitches = Balls + Strikes

At first create a simple Pivot Table
On Row Level Player
On Values Sum of balls, Sum of Strikes
Click on Pivot Table tools
Click on formulas>Calculated field
Now you can find "Insert calculated field"
Type "Pitches" in Name Text box
In formula, Type
= Ball+ Strike
Find your result!
