"insert" is gone/ ribbon grey out

I want to insert or delete a cell. I have been using it consistently today. Now when I right click on a cell, the only option is "insert row" or "delete row". I added "insert cell" to the ribbon. It is greyed out.

I can I get this back?

    Office 2007.

If the cell is active with a blinking insertion point, the option will be greyed out. Be sure the cell is merely selected rather than activated before right clicking.

In response to tlaferty's answer. I know what you are referring to; however my cells seem to be always selected and I have the right click options.

I solved it, playing around when I had my cursor above the sheet in the ribbon and quick access toolbar, I noticed the shortcut in the quick access was no longer grey out, I clicked on it and got a long error message about not being able to move cells off of the sheet and I needed to hit "control" and "end" and then delete all the cells in between. I had this error before, don't know what causes it. I am row 2000 (approx) and only using up to col L or M. Nothing too big.

    anyway issue resolved for now.
