3 Look Up's One Returned Value

Hi all, new here. I've been using excel for years but I am still pretty much a rookie. Here is my question. I am trying to pick a part number from 3 different input values. Essentially someone would use a drop down for choice 1, then 2 and finally 3 drop down would produce the result in another cell. I have added the spreadsheet so you may look at it. Thanks,

What would be the expected results based on the selections made in the sample and why?

I don't see where that combination gets a match in the Data sheet?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Re: 3 Look Up's One Returned Value

Thanks for taking look, so what I want returned is the type of panel from the three choices. So as an example, when entering the system type and choosing "heat pump", then the number of zones "3" and type of thermostat " Hard Wired" would return "HZ322 (K)" to the E9 on the spreadsheet.

I have had customers complain that its confusing picking the correct zone panel so I am hoping to create a simple picking spreadsheet.

If you look at the data sheet and the range "Zone_Panel" you will see the matrix. So an HZ221 (K) will support 2 zones, heat pump only and is hard wired only.

I hope this makes sense and I really appreciate you taking a look.

    Cheers, Bo

    Hi acfella

see the formula in attatch file

also note that text in data validation should be same as the text of main zone table.

Thats it exactly, I really appreciate the help. When I was working on it I got close. But could not quite get it. I also understand what you are saying as far as text being the same. I have a larger spreadsheet with more data in it. I through this one together quickly as an example.

Once again, thanks a lot and as I move forward I might need some more help. Your the best be well.

My confusion was that I thought you expected a result for the sample set you showed.

    I.e. Heat Pump / 3 / Hard Wires/Wireless Capable

It is recommended to always use evaluate formula option in the formula tab in order to understand the formula
