'IF' Statement Help...If Value is blank use another

    Hi,
After some much needed help please

I need a formula that basically uses a value if its there, but if its not, then use another one.

    Spreadsheet goes like this

    COL A, COL B , COL C , COL D

34, yes/no, Generates if select yes on COL B , =colC+2 but if blank add2 from COL A

Hope this makes sense, i have done this before but completely forgotten how to do it.
    Thanks
PS i have attachted the sheet. Thanks

    Hi,

I don't understand. I'll use your actual column letters O,P,Q rather than A,B,C

In which column are you trying to enter a formula? You already have a formula in Q which seems to be doing what you want - I'd leave out the space between the " " but that's a minor comment.

Perhaps an example showing what you want to see would assist.

    Hi,
On the spreadsheet you can see if COL P is input 'Yes', then COL Q generates COL O + 2. If its input 'no' then COL O stays blank.

What i need is, COL R, if COL Q is generated (by inputting Yes in COL P) then i want to use COL Q + 2, but if COL Q is blank (by inputting NO into COL P) i want COL R to generate by using COL O + 2.

Hope this makes sense now lol
    Thanks for the reply already

    Hi,

    Why not use in R2:

Incidentally and as I mentioned last time I'd advise you to change your Q2 formula to

i.e. leave out the space character between the quotes. Experience tells me that this trips up many people when analysis and filtering start to become more complex. It's a good habit to get into.
