    Colour Row with Conditional Formatting

Hi I would like to be able to colour a row based on a word with a cell in that row. ie in a row if one of the words I type in is PAID then the whole row would turn Green. I am using Excel 2003 and none of the MS online help seems to cover anything other than colouring two rows or cells etc.
Look forward to receving your help, Many thanks
    TH

Is it just the work "Paid" that would go in that cell? Is it only one column that you are entering/checking for "Paid"?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Re: Colour Row with Conditional Formatting

Hi Sorry for the delay. It will be only one column which the word will go into but it will be 2 or 3 different words. So depending on the word it will change the row to a different colour.
    Thanks

Re: Colour Row with Conditional Formatting

Select the range you want to affect, and go to Format|Conditional Formatting

Select Formula Is from drop down menu and enter formula:

    =$A1="Paid"

where A1 is the top most cell in your selection of the column that can have the word in it.

Click Format and choose from the Pattern tab.
