Wildcard format?

Hi,

If I want to use a wildcard to reference a specific cell, is this the format?

"&*$F$8*&"

If not, what is?

With NBVC's help,

I have a function that is alpha-numerically counting

C1
C2
... & So on

I needed the wildcard function or whatever the Excel formal term is to because the 'C' may change to another letter


I'm using this to create a Rev. log of my changes. I wanted the letter designation, in this case 'C' to represent the drawing rev. change - also, in this case C.

You just helped me complete my function & thanks to both of you, it works great.
