Excel 2007 : Values for merged cells

Hi everyone , i have a daily tracking sheet , with columns for each day of the week , no problem here , i then have a row of data where 5 cells are merged for each 5 days worth of dates ,here a value is entered weekly ( this is used to show the value for the week not the day ), i need to report this value for every friday , unfortunately if i reference this column and row i get a blank , as the merged cells ( 5 cells ) only 1 cell really contains the data , is there a way of extending the value across all 5merged cells automatically ?? example attached

Once i have done this i then need to look through all the worksheets to retrieve all fridays , the date associated and the values for fridays ... again any help greatly appreciated ...

Why do you need to differentiate the days if the value if the same for the entire week?
Wouldn't it be easier to enter Friday's date only or sthg like that?

Hi , ooh didnt know they were so troublesome .. we dont really want to change the format if we can help it , my thinking was to look for all fridays , and use the value if we could pick it up from the merged cells ..
