Saving a workbook in formula view

Hello-- I'm new here, and this is my first post. I'm taking an online Excel class, and am experiencing a problem that probably has a very simple answer. My teacher wants us to submit a workbook in formula view. I know how to make the workbook display the formulas-- ctrl + ~, using the formula tool bar, even using advanced options. But after I hit save, close the workbook, and open it back up, it's back in normal view, showing values, not formulas. I guess my question is, can you even save a workbook in formula view in the first place? My impression is that you use it to toggle back and forth and/or print. Also, when I go through all the steps, put in formula view, save, then close-- right after I close, whether it's on my desktop or on a USB, a file appears with some characters before the filename, then disappears. I'm meeting with my teacher, but this problem is absolutely driving me insane, because it seems like something simple, yet I can't figure it out. Help, anyone!!

Hi Anneloup and welcome to the forum,

I'm using 2010 and clicked on the Formulas Tab and clicked on Show Formulas. This showed the formulas in C2 and C3. I saved the workbook and opened it again. It came up in "Show Formula" view.

    See the attached.

Thanks for replying! I opened your file & it came up in formula view. I also made a very simple workbook with a formula, saved it in formula view, and it came up the same as well. But the particular file I had to submit in formula view still wouldn't cooperate. So, after letting this make me crazy, trying it over & over in different ways, even redoing the assignment, I receiced an email from my teacher that lots of students are having the same problem. So it has something to do with that file & 2010.
