Freeze panes title row & merged cells

Hi all,

if I have pane frozen and the title row consists of merged cells and I have scrolled e.g. to the middle of the data and try to select few cells of the title row, Excel selects everything between the title row and data underneath the frozen area and starts scrolling up.

Is this some feature related to merged cells or can something be done for this...? Has anyone seen this before?

I have an excel sheet attached to demonstrate this, not huge but very annoying, issue.

merged cells are awful and generally cause problems, try to rid them and use centre across cells instead, might be a heap easier etc
