    Functions don't work as intended

I have a dummy file attached for reference. I downloaded a file with data for yearly demand from a customer. I added a column to sum the monthly totals. As you can see in E6, the formula shows "=sum(h6:s6)" Is there a way to turn on the function so it works and reads "30." The file is not read only and I did rename and save it.

    Thanks.

    Re: Functions won't work

You have the column Formatted as TEXT... change format to General or Number and then go to E6, Hit F2 and Enter...

    continue on...

The cell is formatted as Text. Change the format to General, then press F2 and Enter ... you don't need to change anything else.

Your cell is formatted as Text. Change that to General and then go into the formula bar (or press F2) and hit enter. Did that work?

EDIT: Third times the charm. LOL

Yes, Thanks! I guess I was assuming it was something harder than it needed to be since I downloaded the data.

    Thanks again.
