    Excel Match

    Hi All,

    I have data as below

    Type Name

    Apple Fruit
    Apple Fruit
    Milk Cow
    Potato Vegatable
    Unknown Cow
    Unknown Fuit
    Unknown Vegatable


    and need to find out "unknown" type based on the Name colunm and get the output..

    as below


    Type Name

    Apple Fruit
    Apple Fruit
    Milk Cow
    Potato Vegatable
    Milk Cow
    Apple Fuit
    Potato Vegatable

    I belive there is a way..I am not able to figure it out.

    Please help me

    Suggest that you
    • Reverse the order of the columns
    • Take a copy of the data and paste into a separate set of columns in the same sheet
    • Remove the rows in the new columns with 'unknown'
    • Replace the 'unknown' in the first set of columns with a VLOOKUP formula which references the second columns. See Excel Help for details of this formula.
