    vlookup formula problem

Hi, thanks for any help, friend!

Attached is a short sample book of my vlookup formula that gives only error messages no matter what I try. :-(

    Goal of my vlookup search:

    1) find dates that match in columns A and D (= same date in both columns)

    2) for non-matches, do nothing (= "")

    3) for matches, then
using the same row as D, copy-insert the word or value from column F's cell
into the cell of column B with the same row as A

    Thanks for your ideas! :-)

    Re: vlookup formula problem

Your column index number should be 3 not 6, because you are starting at column D and pulling from F.

    =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP($A1,$D$1:$F$14,3,0)),"",VLOOKUP($A1,$D$1:$F$14,3,0))
Where there is a will there are many ways.
