2 Questions Changing Pivot source and wildcards.

    Hi,

I bet you say no but is it possible to change a pivot from and external data souce to data within the workbook?

The second q has been driving me nuts.
My other half is a teacher and and they represent A Star as "A*".
    If I have:
    A*
    A*
    B
    A

and do a count if on "A*" it caount 3 as it thinks I am looking for a wildcard with "A".
    Is there anyway around this?

    Thanks, Ross

I have never tried the first... so give it a try and see.

For the second, preceed the * with a ~

    e.g.

    =COUNTIF(H22:H25,"A~*")

    counts only A* entries.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

It is called a tilde and it is used to "cancel" the wildcard symbol so Excel instead only looks for the actual symbol rather than making it a wildcard.
