Converting .csv file to .xls file

    Hi,

Sorry for my ignorance! I have a .csv database file with 5 or 6 different data types under heading. I can open it with Excel but the heading and the data are not serparated in proper excel columbs but merely seperated by a vertical line between each heading and each value.
The data is in rows under the headings which are in row number 1. The file has about 60,000 rows of data.

Is there a way the I can get excel to seperate the Data in proper columbs?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Have you tried Data - Text to columns using the vertical line you mention as separator?

now for my next hurdle. I need to take one columb of data and put it in a single cell with each value separated by a comma. I then want to copy and paste the content of that cell into a word doc. Can this be done?
