Conditional Formatting based on comparing 2 values

    Hi,

Ive been searching around and havent been able to find an answer for this particular issue so Im hoping someone can help...here it is

I have 2 sheets with columns of data, on both sheets in the 1st column I have an ID and the other columns have dates in them.
What I want to do is highlight a date on the first sheet if it differs to the date on the 2nd sheet but the check also needs to ensure the ID matches.

    Basically this:-

    Sheet A:-
    A B
    abcd 03/10/12
    wxyz 03/10/12

    Sheet B:-
    A D
    abcd 03/10/12
    wxyz 03/11/12

As you can see the dates of "wxyz" do not match in the different sheets and the dates are also in different columns. I would like to be able to highlight the date in Sheet A if this is the case.

    Hope someone can help...thanks.

    Hi Quovardis,

I was just reading this web site which I think answers your question.
    http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft-...xcel-2010.aspx

You are using 2003 and the above article claims a new feature for 2010 Excel is what you want.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    Hi,

I saw that and realized the NEW for Excel 2010 answered your question. The implication is that you can't do it in earlier versions of Excel. Time to upgrade?

How about giving us a sample workbook with what you have and what you want.

To attach a sample, click on "Go Advanced" and then on the Paper Clip Icon above the message area.

    Hi,

I don't understand what you expect from your example file. You need to describe what is given and what results you expect.
