Why is Excel breaking my one line text file data into multiple lines? Fix?

My text file has 4 lines that I'd like to copy into Excel file. I want one line per cell in Excel, but somehow it breaks every text file line into multiple lines. It looks to me that Excel is breaking it every time it sees <p>. So instead of seeing just 4 Excel cells being filled up, I see over 50+

I don't want it to do that It didn't happen with one of my other text file so I am not sure what I did wrong this time…

I searched the forum and see most people want to split up the content, I don't want that in this case.

How should I fix this?

Works for me. Perhaps you used "<" or ">" or "/" in a previous Text to Columns and it has been retained by Excel and used when you open your text file.

Best bet is, *before you open your text file*, to select a couple of blank cells and choose Text to Columns. Reset all the delimiters (untick them). Then try opening the file.

When you import your text file, choose "fixed width". Click NEXT to see the data preview and double click (or drag away) the column break lines in the preview pane to remove them
