    Find / Replace Formula

    Hello,

I'm looking for a formula that will help me find specific words in a column and replace them with specific numbers. The example below shows a column with six populated cells.

    Column A
    - Account
    - Assitant Accountant
    - Accounting Manager
    - Teacher
    - Actor
    - Police

Any cell that contains the word "Account", like the first 3 rows above, should be replaced with the number 6.

    - The entire field with "Assistant Accountant" would be replaced with 6
    - The entire field with "Accounting Manager" would be replaced with 6
    - The entire field with "Account" would be replaced with 6

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    addie,

In an empty column you could use this formula:
    =IF(COUNTIF(A1,"*account*")>0,6,A1)

And then copy down. You have a few options after that, you could copy -> Paste Special -> Values into column A, or you could just hide column A, or you could leave things as is if that works for you.
    Hope that helps,
