Hi all

I consider myself a fairly advanced excel user, and although this is not critical, it is bugging the hell out me.

Here's my problem.

When I double click into a cell to enter data/text, I then navigate to another application (Alt&TAB) and then back again to excel. Sometimes the cursor remains in the cell to enable to keep typing away, other times the cursor has moved out of the cell, therefore just highlighting the whole cell. As a result overwrites whatever data/text is in the cell, so I then have to undo, then double click back in the cell, move the cursor to the end of the text and continue typing.

Firstly, why does it sometimes remain in the cell and secondly is there a way to ensure it always stays in the cell?

Thanks Donald, but I'm not sure if that is an answer I was looking for?

What I want is to know how to keep the cursor in the cell whilst I navigate to another spreadsheet using "ALT/TAB" and back again?

You could just make it a habit to always hit F2 when you switch back to Excel. This doesn't solve the problem, of course, but it will allow you to keep working without moving your hand to the mouse.
