EDIT: workbook attached in post #5
I am developing a calculator for a clean air campaign in Peoria, IL (www.drivingchangehoi.com). I want to create an excel spreadsheet people can download to help them figure out at what gas price it is cheaper for them to ride the bus.
I have the following information that will be populated:
Commute distance (round trip)
Gas price (1 gallon)
Average MPG
Maintenance and Tires cost
Bus round trip cost
Per mile cost to drive = populated from above
Cost to drive to work = populated from above
Now, I want excel to spit out at what gas price it makes economic sense to ride the bus..in other words, at what gas price (plus the maintenance and tire cost) is it cheaper to take the bus?
It's been awhile since I've taken algebra and I've never done this in excel...so any help is appreciated! I can attach the .xls if it would help anyone.
