    Vlookups with multiple choices?!?!

    Hi All,

I have (with your help) created a series of 3 dropdowns columns that poulate their data depending on what is in the lead column.

However this has confused my vlookup. When the user picks the lead column (in our spreadsheet this is country) the drop downs show all the customers, suppliers and products in the dropdowns.

But for our OLE to work i had a VLookup column looking at the customer name and populating the code (this has to be a in seperate column)
Now i have 3 different sets of data in the dropdowns. However in some of our entities we have the same customer name with a different code in the different entity. The lookup has to pick the right code or the OLE will fail.

Can i have a Vlookup that checks which data to check through. ie
=Vlookup($A$4 (this being the bit it has to identify to pick which list to look at) and then the rest of the function?

I hope this makes sense it is a bit rambling

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi

I think that your sample is not understood. At least to me.
    In columns B, C, D, write:
I have got this bit to work but now i need the code
How did you get this information does not appear anywhere.
As far as I understand Customer code, depends on the other 3 columns that does not seem to identify themselves.

As a hurry, I send you a quick proposal (without getting the data I want), do help make your job.

    Hi,

Here is the attachment with the dropdowns working. These are working fine, but what i need is depending on what is chosen in column A i need the lookup to see which country it is, then look at the information in column B and then match the name with the code in Sheet1.

As we can have the same customer, with the same name in more than one country the lookup needs to take into account the country from where it is picking the code. Otherwise the code will be wrong and the OLE i have linked to it won't work.

    Does this make more sense?

Hurrah, solved. I worked it out myself. An IF statement with VLookups inside it for each variable!
