wont sort 00/00/1800 dates

Hi please help..

I cant figure out how to make excel 2010 sort my dates properly...

I have dates (years) ranging from the 1800's to current 2011..I have my dates arranged as month/day/year (00/00/0000)...but excel keeps ignoring my year 1800 dates, and begins its sort with the 1900's

I need to copy and paste this spreadsheet (csv) file onto notepad/clipboard which I then use to import further into our summation database. but this needs to be arranged chronologically first in excel from oldest to newest for it to work/import properly in our other program (summation).

I know excel is smart enough to do this!!
