    Locking Date

I have order sheets for my company, that when opened automatically add today's date (=today()) - how do I lock the date to the date the order was done & to make it so that it doesn't change every time the sheet is opened

Apologies if this has already been asked & solved, I have looked through the forums but I couldn't find a solution that works for me. If it has been solved already, please can you provide a link to the relevant thread.

    Thanks

    Re: Locking Date

How do you "automatically add today's date (=today())" Is it just a formula or are you using VBA? If you're not using VBA, would you be happy with a VBA solution?

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

Here is a dummy attachment showing what I need. Scroll over the date block (in yellow) & read the comments. I have tried to be as specific as I possibly can.

    Thanks

Put the following code in the code module for the Order Sheet worksheet:

Please Login or Register to view this content.

It actually puts the time in as well but that's masked by the format.
