Search & Replace....should be simple

I'm trying to perform a search and replace on a worksheet that uses hundreds of columns and I'm trying to replace a cell reference for D9. Trouble is that with so many columns, I end up replacing the "D9" in cells AD9, BD9, CD9 etc. which ends up corrupting the entire worksheet.

Am I missing something obvious?

Include the character preceding the cell, like ",D9" or ":D9" or "(D9".

Untested. Make a backup copy.

Don't know if this will help, but if you change the cell referencing to R1C1 (File, Options, Formulas, Working with Formulas) see if you have more workable options for Find and Replace.
