    excel information request form development

    Hi all,

I want to develop an information request form and to use excel as the user interface. The user filling in the form would also need to upload drawings, documents etc. as part of providing me with the necessary information. I want to develop a form that the user can click an upload link in excel that will allow drawings and documents to be placed in a specific folder that is linked to excel. Once the information request form is complete, when the user closes excel I would want the entire package of workbook containing the information and the folder containing all drawings and documents to be automatically zipped for email.

Does anyone have any ideas on whether it is possible to develop something of this nature using excel?

This is a pretty big request in one chunk. I'm sure you'll get better response if you break down your question into several parts, so that they can be tackled one after the other.

Also, we're happy to help you with your effort, but nobody here will be keen on developing a solution from scratch. This forum is about helping people learn how to use Excel, not a free development service.

Have you started any work on this project yet?
    How far did you get?
    Where are you stuck?

We can help you develop your own code, but if you want someone to code this for you all the way, you should try and find a commercial developer.
    Hope that helps.

If you use Outlook at work you might want to have a look at creating some group stationary to use rather than Excel. It would probably simplify the process although it's not something I've ever done myself.

Thank you for your replies. This would be something I would want to develop myself if possible. I only have ideas on how to embark on this project; I have not done anything like this before, but want to develop something for my work that would be of benefit to help process information and to keep a record for future QA checks.

If anyone has ideas that can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I use excel every day and hence the reason why I want to use. However, I would still classify myself as a beginner to intermediate level in terms of excel knowledge.
