Links cannot be updated

First, let me preface this by saying that I thought I had posted this thread, but I cannot find it so I may have deleted it instead of posting it. I apologize if it is out here twice.

I have a master file where I maintain basic information about inventory items which is linked to by several different workbooks, most with no problem. I have one workbook though that always comes up with the message "This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated."

When I click 'Edit Links...' the file is the correct file. It is the only link listed and although it says it cannot be updated, the link is apparently good because it pulls the data from the master file.

I am using a simple INDEX/MATCH lookup that works fine from every other place I use it. Both files are .xlsx files and I am using Excel 2010.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I finally tried what I should have tried first and copied the worksheet to a new workbook. Saved the new workbook, closed it then reopened it. I had no problem with links not updating.
