    Help! Formulas not working

    Hello,

I've noticed that my formulas have stopped working. Any formula in my sheet (or in any new sheet, for that matter) simply displays the last result it calculated. Clicking in the cell to show the formula simply sets the cell to zero.

Anyone have any ideas? Any help is very much appreciated.

Have a look under Tools...Options...Calculation and make sure it's set to automatic.

Yeah, I'd done that already. It's set to automatic.

Odd. Do you have another pc you can open the workbook on and see if the same problem occurs?

Clicking in the cell to show the formula simply sets the cell to zero
Do you mean that when you click in the cell, the formula calculates to 0? What, for example, should it be calculating to?

Only 4 things I can think of are
    1. manual calculation (which you already checked)
    2. cells formatted to text
    3. formula's inputted incorrectly so that Excel is seeing them as text
    4. some macro in the background playing havoc on your sheet.

This can happen if you have two or more workbooks open, and the calculation on the 1st opened sheet is not set to automatic.

    Re: Help! Formulas not working

Oh dear. I've wasted your time. Closing Excel and opening again rectified the problem. All sheets had been set to automatic. The issue arose seemingly out of nowhere, as I had been working on the same sheet for about 30 minutes.

Very sorry; rookie mistake. I just jumped to it being something more complex. Just a glitch, I suppose.

Thanks very much for your help.
