    Fixing columns/rows whilst scrolling

    Hi everyone,

I'm creating a database spreadsheet and want to fix the first column so that it is visible at all times. I tried using the Freeze Panes command however it doesn't quite do what I need. If freezes the required cells if I scroll left-right but if I move up-down it also moves.

Is there a way to fix the first few cells in column A so that they are visible at all time, no matter what part of the spreadsheet I am on?

    Thanks for your help

    Charlotte

You might want to consider trying SPLIT on your toolbar. First select the cell at the bottom right of whatever you want frozen, then click the SPLIT button. Personally, I don't care for it, but it might do what you're looking for.

Freeze panes will freeze the columns to the left of the highlighted cell and rows above the highlighted cell, try moving the cursor before you freeze panes
