    Offset function - #value error

    Hi,

I'm having some trouble with the OFFSET function in a risk log I'm working on.

You'll see in the attachement that example one (which finds the reference using numbers) that the reference returned in cell E3 works fine.

However, in example two (which attempts to find the reference using letters) that the #VALUE error is returned in F17.

Anyone any ideas? Is this OFFSET function just not possible using letters? Any thoughts much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Terry.

Re: Offset function - #value error

    hi,

i'd be tempted to used index and atch rather than offset,

    =INDEX($C$22:$G$26,MATCH(D17,$B$22:$B$26,0),MATCH(C17,$C$21:$G$21,0))
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1
