Large filesize and can't get rid of web buttons

    Hi there,

I've copied over data from a web site;there are 11 sheets, with tables of the following sizes:
    27x62
    27x62
    31x62
    30x62
    48x62
    39x62
    28x62
    23x62
    8x62
    13x62
    2x62

The file is now about 2.6 MB, which seems way too big.

I'm also concerned that I can't get rid of some of the web "buttons" that got copied over from the site where I copied the data. These are akin to the "submit new thread" button below. I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of them.

Any ideas on either of these issues?

    Hi,

I have this issue before and its annoying!

What you need to do is make sure you have the drawing toolbar open and then use the select objects (its an arrow) button. By highlighting the object or all the objects it will then allow you to delete or cut.

Oha nd the size is probably due to the 'buttons' as well.

    Cheers

    Steve --

Thanks for the note. I pulled up the drawing toolbar and clicked on select objects, but I'm uncertain as to how to actually select these buttons in order to delete them. Can you provide further guidance? Thanks in advance!

hey, you should be abale to select each one and then delete. When you select the button just click teh delete button or alternatively right click and press cut.

One last way of doing multiple buttons is to start in the top left of the work sheet, keep your finger down on the right button and move cursor over thw hole excel sheet (or just objects). They should then be highlighted and then delete.

Not sure if it would be easier if you posted an example?

Yes, let me do that. I can't seem to make what you are suggesting work (neither the select nor delete part). Maybe it's because I'm working with Excel 2003? Not sure.

Attached is one of the sheets. Nothing confidential on it so it's fine for you to take a look at. Several buttons live below the table. Hope you can help, and

    Thanks so much again!

ok, it wasnt as simple as i thought! you need to open the Control toolbox and then clieck on the design mode button (looks like a 90 degree triangle). then you can click on the buttons and delete!

    One note for posterity --

Enter design mode, then ctrl-g (go to), special ..., click object, selects all objects.

And an update for Excel 2010!

First, you have to make sure you have the "Developer" Tab showing up. Fot that, go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon. Then over on the right side, check the box next to "developer."

Now, to get rid of the web buttons: Go to the Developer Tab and click on "Design Mode". To delete one button, click on the button and hit delete. To delete ALL the buttons, click on one button, then hit Ctrl+A, then hit delete. Cheers!
