"Windows delayed wite failed" error when saving excel file on server folder

    Hello!

I have a problem with saving the work on a excel 2003 file that is put on a server. My PC is working fine (can save work) but other from the network can't and that a big problem. This is not the first excel file that we work on. The only difference between this and others is the size. The excel file that will not save work has 2,5 MB and other that save work had 600KB. All excell files are using VBA, Formulas and protect sheet and cells vba code.

I found a similar problem posted on expert exchange but I don't have access. If any of you could help me with that I'll be very grateful, here is the link : http://www.experts-exchange.com/Soft..._22863858.html

    Back to my problem!

All the PC's are equipped with the same operating sistem (XP SP3), the only difference between them is the updates :

PC that can save Excel work (working PC) has this aditional updates :

    -security update 2003 (KB982311):MSO
-update for windows XP (KB967715) - (description: disable autorun functionality in windows)
-update for windows XP (KB973687) - MSXML core services 3.0 and MSXML core services 6.0
-update for windows XP (KB955759) - Appcompat update for indeo codec
    - security update for windows XP (KB955069) - XML core services 3.0
-security update for windows XP (KB977165 v2) - vulnerabilities in windows Kernel could allow elevation of privilege
-security update for windows XP (KB941569) - vulnerability in windows media file format could allow remote code execution
-update for windows XP (KB2141007) - extend protection for authentification for outlook express and windows Mail
-hotfix for windows XP (KB2158563) - cumulative time zone updates for windows operation systems
-hotfix for windows XP (KB2443685) - cumulative time zone updates for windows operation systems
-update for windows XP (KB2467659) - update for internet explorer
-security update for windows XP (KB2524375) - fraudulent digital certificates could allow spoofing

Pc that CAN NOT save excel work (NOT working PC) doesn't have the above updates but has this aditional updates:

    - KB923789 - vulnerabilities in macromedia flash player from adobe could allow remote code execution
    - KB976323 - update for windows SMTP service
    - KB2491683 - update for windows fa cover page editor

This topic is posted also in mrexcel forum, but after 24 hours I did not get any response, so I decided to ask here as well !!

If you had similar problems or you heard about this please feel free to post it.

this probably is not an excel problem, what happens if you try a 2.5mb or >word file or PDF or some other non ms office app?
try reporting to your network admin!it could be the server itself

On the network folder I have word and power point files that exceed 10 MB and I don't have any problems with them, just with excel files. Please follow this link and you will see that this problem is real and is for excel files:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Soft..._22863858.html

And is not from the server or from network failure because some PC's can save the work on this file and other's can't. I think it's all to do with windows updates !!!

Re: "Windows delayed wite failed" error when saving excel file on server folder

This is M$ Win 2003 Server issue not the Desktop / Excel. I am guessing you have global Excel / Office install ie you log in Via AD (Domain)

Speak wit the IS Dept, the servers being naughty or someone add some policy or some non-sence

If you can see Your C drive then save to C and copy / paste to the server if this works, then,, the servers naughty

If you cant see the C drive the IS have bolted it down so the very best of luck ..

if Your running TSE domain ..again IS Dept have meesed it up and need to sort it

Bit hard to tell much from here
