I have a list of data which I know exists and I want to copy to another location using the advanced filter but the data is not being copied across. The filter criteria is correct.
Any ideas?

the location criteria should be from the same worksheet else the Advance filter will not work, please attach the sheet u are working on for a better view of the problem
It should not in fact matter which sheet the criteria are on. It would appear to me that you have ruled out the only possible cause based on what you say, but if you remove the criteria, does the data copy across?
Good luck.
1 test if the filter is working by filtering in place.
2 to filter to another worksheet you must start the filter from that sheet and use absolute cell reference with the sheet name included ie copy to sheet2!$a$1

The filter does work.
The filter criteria is on a separate sheet to the source data and I am copying the sorted data on to the same sheet as the source data. What is really odd is that the first column is copied over but not the rest of the data.
It worked fine in v.2003.
Maybe it's time to post the offending workbook so it can be tested
works fine for me ,but you must select all columns to be copied across ,so if you advance filter on col a you need to select a,b,c,and d apply the filter to a
and b,c,&d will also copy
Unfortunately, it is very large, very complex and contains confidential data.
Which version are you currently using? (I can not actually replicate that issue in either 2007 or 2010)
Silly error.
The copy reference was for one column ... duh!
