Extract data from a .pdf file and maintain the different columns

I have an adobe file which has data in column (or table) form.

But, if I try to copy / paste the data into an excel file, it all goes into 1 text field.

Is it possible to get excel to recognize the different columns?

In case it matters / helps, the file is both on a website and saved as a file.

So basically, when I look at the file, I see

    column 1 | column 2 | column 3

but if I try and copy / paste the data, I get

    column 1 column 2 column 3

all in 1 cell. I'd like it to go into 3 different cells.

The data is NOT uniform in length.

I tried saving it as a text file and that didn't seem to be any better.

Use the Text to Columns function and use the 'space' as a delimiter.

Of course, copy the data into Excel first.....

    hope this helps.

Thanks, but there are multiple spaces in the data, and not always the same amount.

For example, the data for column 1 for 3 different rows could look like

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
    aaa bbbbbbbb
    aa bb cccc

so it's all in the same column in the pdf file, but it's not the same length from row to row and doesn't have the same number of spaces.
