Command Button Troubles

I am trying to make a simple command button to clear a worksheet. I already have the code written to clear the worksheet, but when I create a new button it doesn't give me an option to assign a macro already written, it always takes me back to the code for a new button named CommandButton1. I would like to name it myself and add my code to it, but I cannot access the properties either.
I tried just inserting the code in what came up and that worked, but then I tried to rename it and now I have a button that does nothing that I cannot seem to be able to select to delete either. Anyone know what I did and how to fix it?

Okay so I found another post about this. I selected design mode and was able to delete the non functioning button, but I still don't know how to link the already made code to a new button. Anyone know how?

Are you using Forms Controls or ActiveX? Forms controls allow you to assign a macro & are generally more stable

I added a button to my toolbar to create a command button, so I guess it would be using forms? I'm not really sure on that one. I just used the button, then drew the button and it went straight to the VBA editor, no option to assign it an existing macro.
I did the same thing again later and it did work, I have no idea why. Still kind of curious what was happening before though.

It sounds like an ActiveX CommandButton To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook. Don't upload a picture when you have a workbook question. None of us is inclined to recreate your data. Upload the workbook and manually add an 'after' situation so that we can see what you expect. In addition clearly explain how you get the results..
To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'.
To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'.
Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments.

You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page.
Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file.

To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page.
Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

If you are using an ActiveX button. On the developer tab ribbon select Design Mode, right click the button, select view code & enter your macro code in between the Sub commandbutton & End Sub lines. Don't use the sub name you have in the existing module.
You can change the colours of the buttons too
