Use a Slicer From Another Pivottable

    Hello

I am having a problem in connect a pivottable from another pivottable (both pivottables are from the same source data).

    Steps I have taken:

On the Data tab, in the Get External Data group, I clicked Existing Connections.
In the Existing Connections dialog box, in the show box, I make sure that All Connections is selected.
I do not have any connection yet so I clicked on Browse for More
In the Select Data Source dialog box, I clicked New Source to start the Data Connection Wizard so that I can select the data source that I want to connect to. I select ODBC DSN
In the Data Connection Wizard and clicked next
On the ODBC data sources, I select Excel Files and clicked next
On the Select Workbook dialog box, I navigate to My file and clicked OK
    My problem starts here:

    8. On the Data Connection Wizard the file I navigated is listed on the text box on Select the database that contains the data you want but the next button is grayed out. when I unchecked the Connect to a specific table, the next button becomes available. I then clicked next

9 . On the Save Data Connection File and Finish dialog box I Clicked finished. This then give me a Microsoft Excel dialog box that states This data source contain No visible table.

    Note:

I created the Pivottable from the same data source contained in the Worksheet named Orders from the table called Orders. I named the two pivottable: Pivot1 and Pivot2

    What is the way forward:

If correct, I should be presented with the Import Data dialog box, where I can select how I want to view this data in my workbook and then insert a slicer and then do my ultimate objective to connect this slicer with the other Pivottable

    I am connecting Pivot2 to Pivot1

Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Use a Slicer From Another Pivottable

If you already have a pivot table set up using your data source, then select a blank cell, press Alt+DP to start the Pivot Table wizard and specify that you want to use another pivot table as the source, then build as normal.
    Good luck.
